East Liberty nonprofit Youth Enrichment Services Named 2019 Champion in Action

The New Pittsburgh Courier has learned that Youth Enrichment Services (YES), a nonprofit providing socially and economically at-risk youth the opportunity to achieve success through participation in mentorship, education and enrichment programs, has been named a 2019 Champion in Action in the category of Youth Leadership. The award, announced jointly by Citizens Bank, WPXI-TV, Trib Total Media and Pittsburgh Cares, includes $35,000 in unrestricted funding as well as promotional and volunteer support for the organization’s outstanding work, according to a release.
Youth Enrichment Services (YES) provides empowerment, experiential opportunities, academic enrichment and summer employment as positive pathways to future success. YES partners with local organizations to create synergy and generates transformative stories, national accolades and positive research outcomes.
OLIVIA KELLEY (she, her, hers)
Senior Communications, Systems and Organization Strategy Leader
Olivia Kelley graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Urban Studies and a Bachelor of Philosophy Degree for her senior thesis in which she worked with YES students to understand how young people interpret change in their communities. Olivia started at YES in August 2020 as the Office Administrator, where she managed financial and logistical record keeping, oversaw daily operations, and created a variety of systems that allow for accessible collection of programmatic qualitative and quantitative data. In August 2022, Olivia transitioned into a part-time role for the organization in order to pursue a Master's degree in School Counseling. She now works remotely from Chicago, IL as the Manager of Resources and Systems. In this role Olivia created and managed organizational systems, supported grant proposals, oversaw a number of program invoicing procedures, and provided insight for special projects. Olivia now serves as the Senior Communications, Systems and Organization Strategy Leader for YES, where she continues to manage YES’ various operational and programmatic systems. In this role, she supports YES’ violence prevention and Collective Impact Ecosystem efforts. Olivia also manages YES’ fiscal operations.
